In the present document, different models of heave plates coupled to a cylinder are simulated using the Lattice-Bolztmann method (which allows for the use of the Large Eddy Simulation turbulence model [1]), rather than the usual finite volume method used in other software in the field. In order to validate the results, the models used will be some of the proposed in Rao et al. [2], allowing for a comparison with experimental data and other CFD results obtained in the cited article using the finite volume method with Unsteady Reynolds Averaged Navier Stokes approach.
